Biography
Sophia Schachtner, born in Munich in 1995, lives and works in Hamburg. After graduating from high school in 2014, and an internship at Neuesuper Filmproduktion in Munich, she mainly worked in the art department for various film and television productions. Since 2018 she has been studying Film at HFBK Hamburg. Since 2024 she is doing her Master Degree of Narrative Filmmaking with Professor Angela Schanelec at HFBK Hamburg. She also studied at Filmakademie Wien in Austria and at LUCA School of Arts Brussels in Belgium for one semester each. She was part of the Student Jury at DOK.fest München 2022, the Young Europeans Jury at FIPADOC Biarritz in 2023 and the Student Jury of Filmfest Hamburg in 2024. Her shortfilm GUDOW NORD had its Premier in the German competition at DOK Leipzig 2023. Her works transcend between documentary and fiction.
