A moving portrait of Sara, Afghanistan's first female taxi driver. Filmmaker Patricia Franquesa captures the strength of a powerful woman who breaks through the barriers of a highly patriarchal society. Sara's bright eyes convey her tireless defense of women's rights and fight to achieve what seemed impossible. An inspiring story of friendship between two women who are full of life, an ode to empathy and dialogue between cultures. The circular tale of Sara's life story turns from fear to love and from love to fear. A testimony of a reality that no longer exists.
HERITAGE — Belgium, Hungary, Portugal 2021 — Directed by: Anna Gyimesi — 11 min — Spoken language: Hungarian — Subtitles: English — Production: DocNomads, Luca School of Arts, Brussels — Producers: Anna Gyimesi, Frederik Nicolai
For a long time, I knew that I wanted to do something with my grandfather's inherited family videos. When I faced the fact that I saw a happy family, a fundamental question appeared in my mind: how is it possible to continue to exist seemingly joyful as a Holocaust survivor? My Heritage is not just a bunch of travel videos, capturing family holidays. It is a deeply personal confession of mine as well, through which I can purely ask whether it is possible to choose life after a traumatic past, whether happiness is a choice, and whether, as a third-generation Holocaust survivor, I have the right to smile.

Her voice (Mira Furlan) connects the memories and dreams of 14 souls who share their stories on her banks. As rivers flow on, nations change, politics fluctuate and in a time of great division SAVA offers a compassionate, connected perspective of our complex world and all who live in it

Ex-East, ex-West, the Cold War and a great love affair. How was it? How did it feel? There are films that rely on images and archive and then there are the films that simply recreate everything without further ado in playful detail. A film that crosses borders, with tongue in cheek humour that is one thing above all: a great love story.
